The Threshold Where Glory Waits

Before light was spoken, darkness was present. Not because it ruled, but because it would be overcome. Yet not all darkness would be overcome — not because God is unable, but because of man’s free will. Free will is the sacred thread woven into both angelic beings and mankind. It is the gift that makes love authentic and rebellion possible. God allowed darkness to exist — not as a threat, but as a threshold. It is not only a sign of rebellion, both in heaven and on earth, but also the eternal destination for those who choose to reject the Light. And yet, it remains the canvas for His glory, the backdrop for His unveiling. Darkness is not the absence of God — it is often the setting for His most intimate work.

We often fear the dark seasons, but they are where identity is forged. Where strength is discovered. Where the soul learns to see — not with eyes, but with faith. Darkness binds us to prayer, presses us into surrender, and shapes us into vessels of endurance. It is not always judgment. Sometimes, it is preparation. In the deep, we learn to wait for the Light, to trust the unseen, to walk by faith and not by sight. Even in the context of hell — God is not absent. He may not dwell in communion there, but He is omnipresent. He sees all things. He knows all things. He is not confined by location, nor limited by dimension. Psalm 139:8 affirms, “If I make my bed in the depths, You are there.”

So when God said, “Let there be light,” He wasn’t erasing darkness — He was fulfilling its purpose. He was revealing the way. He was declaring that the True Light would come and overcome. 2 Corinthians 4:6 says, “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”

Jesus Christ was already the divine map before the world had awareness. Before man had breath. Before time had rhythm. He was the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world — because God, in His foreknowledge, saw the coming fall of both man and angels before any other creation came into existence. Christ was not a reaction; He was the eternal provision. He is the Light that shines in darkness — the Light that darkness cannot overcome (John 1:5). And even within the veil, there were those who were called from the beginning — chosen before time — who saw the Light and came home.

Let this scroll remind you: God is not absent in the deep. He is present in the silence. He is near in the shadows. And when He speaks, it is not to erase the darkness, but to fulfill its purpose — to manifest His presence within you, to refine what was hidden, and to redeem what was wounded.

Do not despise your season of trials and testing. It is not your undoing — it is your shaping. The Spirit hovers there. The Word prepares to speak there. The Light is destined to break forth there.

We won’t truly know our strength until we’ve walked through the depths of life. Our calling and our purpose are not fully discovered in the absence of storms. Life becomes more defined, more meaningful, after we’ve endured our fair share of troubles. Sometimes, darkness, trials, or seasons in the wilderness bring more glory to God than a life untouched by suffering.

So when you feel like you are in your season of trials — know that you are being formed. You are being refined. And the Light of Christ is already shining in your heart. Let Him illuminate every hidden place. Let Him be glorified in your unveiling.

“In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith — of greater worth than gold — may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” — 1 Peter 1:6–7
