THE STEWARDSHIP AND MULTIPLICATION OF TALENTS

THE STEWARDSHIP AND MULTIPLICATION OF TALENTS

FAITHWEAR MINISTRY SCROLL — January 11, 2026

God does not give talents for storage, fear, or hiding; He gives them for stewardship, multiplication, and kingdom increase. Jesus taught plainly that talents are entrusted to us as a sacred responsibility, for “the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them” (Matthew 25:14). What He places in our hands is not ours to bury, delay, or ignore. It is His investment, His intention, His purpose, and His glory placed within us. Talents are not ornaments; they are assignments. They are not decorations; they are deposits. They are not hobbies; they are holy stewardship.

You see, some talents are buried in us because life becomes heavy — busyness, struggles, disappointments, responsibilities, and the weight of seasons we never asked for. Life can press so deeply on the soul that what God placed within us sinks beneath the surface. But beloved, remember the beginning: when God formed the earth, “darkness was over the face of the deep” (Genesis 1:2). Water covered everything, shrouded in mystery and shadow. Yet God lifted part of the waters upward and called them heaven, and He commanded the remaining waters to recede so that the earth — which had been hidden in the depths — could appear. Only then did God begin to create, shape, and fill the world with purpose.

In the same way, whatever is buried in you is not lost. Whatever your struggles are, lift them up to God, and He will lift the waters that drown you. He will carry your burdens and make them light, so that whatever He placed in you — whatever has been submerged by life — can rise again and manifest.

The servant who buried his talent did not lose it because he lacked ability — he lost it because he lacked obedience. Fear, comparison, laziness, and self‑protection caused him to hide what God had entrusted to him. He said, “I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground” (Matthew 25:25). Fear is the enemy of stewardship. Fear is the burial ground of purpose. Fear is the thief of multiplication. But the servants who used their talents, who risked, who acted, who obeyed, who moved — they heard the words every believer longs to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord” (Matthew 25:21). Faithfulness is not measured by how much we have, but by how we use what we have.

God expects increase because He is a God of increase. He expects multiplication because He is the God who multiplies. He expects fruit because He is the Vine and we are the branches, and “every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit” (John 15:2). Talents grow when surrendered. Talents multiply when used. Talents expand when offered back to Him. Talents become worship when they flow from obedience, alignment, and oneness with Christ. We do not multiply talents by striving; we multiply them by abiding. “He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit” (John 15:5). Fruitfulness is the natural result of union.

To use our talents is to partner with God. It is to say, “Lord, what You placed in me, I return to You with increase.” It is to join Him in His work, to participate in His kingdom, to reflect His nature, and to reveal His glory. When we use our talents, we testify that we trust Him. When we hide them, we testify that we do not. The one who buried his talent did not lose it because he lacked gifting — he lost it because he misunderstood the heart of the Master. He believed God was harsh, demanding, and unsafe. But the faithful servants understood that the Master is generous, rewarding, and trustworthy. They knew that whatever they offered Him would return multiplied.

So come — step up. Fear no more. Surrender your past to Him and join hands with the One who offers you partnership in His work. Serve the body of Christ with your talent, and I assure you, God will bless you and speak blessings over your life and your family. Do not be held back by your past or your fears, because when you allow them to restrain you, you give them permission to dominate you. But we are made free in Christ, and anything that holds us back — if surrendered — will fall away.

I will tell you this truth: when you return to your first love after Christ — which is the return to the use of your God‑given talents — you will feel lighter, freer, and joy will rise within you again. Love will awaken. Hope will breathe. Strength will return. So I say, go back to your first love. Go back to what God deposited in you. Go back to the place where His intention first touched your life. Use what He designed in you, and you will see life spring forth again.

When I speak about talents, I always return to King David. Why? Because his life is an eye‑opener to me. He was betrayed by his father‑in‑law Saul, betrayed by Ahithophel his trusted counselor, betrayed by his own son Absalom, and even betrayed again when Joab supported Adonijah’s attempt to seize the throne — yet he chose worship and surrender to God. He did not allow betrayal to reshape his identity or poison his trust in God. He clung to Him.

So arise now. Wake up. Accept Him as your Lord, and serve Him with all your might and all your soul. Live by your purpose, according to your calling. For each of us carries God‑given talent deposits within us — not for self‑exaltation, but for the benefit of the church, for the admonition and strengthening of the body of Christ, and for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. And remember this: He dwells in our praises and in our worship. When we use our talents in worship and service, we create a dwelling place for His presence.

This is why we must use our talents: because they are not ours. They belong to the One who gave them. They are entrusted to us for a season, and we will give an account for how we stewarded them. Not in fear, but in love. Not in pressure, but in partnership. Not in striving, but in surrender. Every talent is an invitation to intimacy, obedience, and joy. Every talent is a doorway into deeper communion. Every talent is a seed that carries the potential of a harvest. And every harvest brings glory to God. “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit” (John 15:8).

To bury a talent is to bury a piece of our calling. To hide a talent is to hide a piece of God’s intention for our lives. To neglect a talent is to neglect a portion of our assignment. But to use a talent — even imperfectly, even trembling, even learning — is to honor the One who formed it within us. It is to say, “Lord, I trust You more than I fear failure.” It is to step into the joy of partnership with Him. It is to walk in the purpose for which we were created. And it is to prepare for the day when we will stand before Him and hear, not the voice of disappointment, but the voice of delight: “Well done.”
