The Waiting Season

Waiting can be painful. There are seasons when we hear the Lord clearly and see the path He has set before us. Yet as time passes and fulfillment seems delayed, we may begin to question what we once saw and heard with confidence. What was once clear can become clouded by uncertainty. Waiting often becomes a place where faith wrestles with doubt.

Scripture is filled with those who waited. Moses waited more than forty years before stepping into the calling God had prepared for him. David was anointed king long before he ever sat upon the throne. During his waiting season, he endured rejection, hardship, and persecution at the hands of King Saul. The promise was real, but so was the waiting.

Many things happen in the waiting. Faith is tested. Character is refined. Perspective is reshaped. Yet through it all, waiting invites us to anchor our hope in the One who gives hope. He is the One who planted purpose within us. He is the One who spoke the promise. Because the promise originated with Him, we can trust Him to fulfill it in His appointed time.

The waiting season can feel like a fierce wind seeking to uproot a tree. At times, it may feel like the waves of the sea are tossing the soul back and forth without relief. Yet the strength of a tree is not found in the absence of storms but in the depth of its roots. In the same way, our security is not found in favorable circumstances but in remaining rooted in Christ.

This is the sacred work of waiting: to keep our eyes fixed on Him regardless of the season and regardless of what the season contains. It is a time to secure our faith firmly in the Lord and refuse to let go. It is also a time to learn acceptance, embracing what He allows and what He appoints, whether it aligns with our preferences or not.

For He is the Lord who knows what is good for us. His wisdom is higher than our understanding, His timing is better than our timing, and His heart toward His children is always good. Therefore, our task is not to force what He has spoken, but to remain faithful where He has placed us. If the purpose is from Him, He will vindicate it, establish it, and bring it forth in His appointed time.

In this truth, let your heart rest.

"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD."
Psalm 27:14 (KJV)

Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."
Psalm 37:5 (KJV)
