The Binder
Just as water binds the dough together, the Spirit of God hovered over the waters in the beginning, and God spoke light into existence. When He spoke, He did more than summon light into the darkness. He established His sustaining essence within creation, binding the seen and the unseen to His sovereign Word. Creation was formed by His Word, sustained by His power, and upheld by His essence. Nothing exists apart from Him.
This is why surrender matters. Though God sustains all creation, He often works within the human heart through consent. He does not force intimacy, obedience, or transformation. He invites. Surrender is the yielding of the heart to the Potter, the Shepherd, the Vinedresser, and the Master Baker. It is the willingness to remain in His hands until what He has spoken is fully formed. For a heart that remains surrendered remains soft, and a soft heart can be shaped by God.
